NAME

Scroll - the AfterStep scroll-bar module

SYNOPSIS

Scroll is spawned by AfterStep, so no command line invocation will work.

DESCRIPTION

The Scroll module prompts the user to select a target window, ifthe module was not launched from within a window context in AfterStep. After that, it adds scroll bars to the selected window, to reduce thetotal desktop space consumed by the window.

Scroll reads ~/GNUstep/Library/AfterStep/scroll file when it starts up,and looks for lines similar to "*ScrollFore green".

Scroll should not be used with windows which move or resize themselves, norshould it be used with windows which set the WM_COLORMAP_WINDOWS property.Operation is fine with windows that have a private colormap.

INITIALIZATION

During initialization, Scroll will eventually search a configuration file which describes the colors to use.

If the Scroll executable is linked to another name, ie ln -sScroll MoreScroll, then another module called MoreScroll can bestarted, with a completely different configuration than Scroll, simply by changing the keyword Scroll to MoreScroll.

INVOCATION

Scroll can be invoked by binding the action 'ModuleScroll x y' to a menu or key-stroke in the ~/GNUstep/Library/AfterStep/scrollfile.The parameter x and y are integers, which describe the horizontal andvertical window size reduction.AfterStep will searchdirectory specified in the ModulePath configuration option to attemptto locate Scroll. Although nothing keeps you from launchingScroll at start-up time, you probably don't want to put it in autoexec file.

CONFIGURATION OPTIONS

Scroll reads ~/GNUstep/Library/AfterStep/scroll file when it starts up,and looks for lines as listed below:

*ScrollFore color
Tells the module to use color instead of grey for scroll bars themselves.

*ScrollBack color
Tells the module to use color instead of black for the windowbackground.

BUGS

When the scroll bars are removed by clicking on the button in thelower right corner, the window does not restore its locationcorrectly.
